A talk by Sir Martin Sorrell, CEO of WPP
Chaired by: Lord Sharkey
Sir Martin founded WPP, now the world’s largest advertising and communications services group in 1985. Over the following 30 years he transformed this small maker of wire baskets — Wire & Plastic Products — into a marketing media and communications services group, with a market capitalisation of £17.7 billion.
WPP employs over 190,000 people (including associates and investments) working in 112 countries and has annual revenues of £19 billion. WPP now embraces some of the best-known names in marketing, advertising and public relations, including Ogilvy & Mather, J Walter Thompson, Y&R, Grey, Burson-Marsteller and H+K Strategies, amongst many other companies.
In addition to his role at WPP, Sir Martin is also a non-executive director of Alpha Topco, the Formula 1 company and Alcoa Inc.
